Hudson and the Easter Bunny

Words cannot express how much Hudson looooved the Easter bunny! He kept running back and giving him hugs and trying to give him all of his eggs. I wonder how our next little guy/gal will like Mr. Bunny next year!? Hudson has such a love for life! He is brave and adventurous and everything I wish I could be! Even though you have to tilt your head to the side, this is a cute little video that captured his love for this special bunny!

Pregnant at the Prom - Not mine of course...Easton and Britni's Prom

We decided to tell our fellow resident, Easton about the big news so that he could share in the excitement as we told his mom and sister when they came into town for the prom this weekend. Hudson came out of his room with his big brother shirt on and we timed it to see how long it would take Easton to realize what was going on. A very painful 15 minutes later.... Easton was so very excited. If I'm not mistaken, I think he may have even had some tears in his eyes! He has been more of a big brother to Hudson than a cousin this past several months. He was very excited to add another baby to the bunch, especially since he'll be right down the road at Coastal Carolina University next year!

Britini and Easton looked fabulous for their senior prom! It was crazy to think about how nearly 13 years ago it was Garrett and I....now look at how far we've come! Married...with a baby...pregnant again and loving life.

Next up...telling Pam and Charlie! We played the "Egg Game" once again! There was a lot of screaming and yelling and crying and hugs! Charlie and Hudson celebrated by dancing in the rain!

April 2, 2011 - Telling Bubby and Pa!

We wanted to tell our families in a very special way. Since Easter was quickly approaching, we wanted to do an "Easter Basket" surprise theme! We walked into Bubby and Pa's house with a large Easter basket filled with plastic eggs. We told them that Hudson had a special Easter egg game that he wanted to show them. In the basket, were four numbered eggs from 1-4. We explained that they had to open the eggs in the right order and read them out loud. The first egg said, "I am so blessed to have you as my Bubby and Pa" the second one said, "I love you more than you'll ever know" the third one said, "I'm so excited to share you because..." and the fourth one said, "I'm going to be a big brother, we have about 8 more months to go!" Shocked doesn't even begin to explain the reaction from our dear Bubby and Pa! They must have had a million questions, as they tried to pick their jaws up off of the floor. I still don't know if it has really hit them yet! It was a great moment! A moment we'll remember forever! Hudson came around the corner in his "Big Bro" t-shirt just as they opened the last egg!

Week 7 - April 15, 2011

Week 7 - April 15, 2011 A "Beautiful Blueberry" to add to our Fruit Salad of Love!

I wonder if/when it will really hit me that there really is a baby in there! I can't help but think back to when we were expecting Hudson and how much I was able to rest and just focus on me! lol My have times changed! Working full time and running around after a toddler makes for very little rest! I wouldn't have it any other way though! Each time I think of Hudson having a little playmate, I get all teary thinking of what a blessing this baby has been, not only to Garrett and I, but especially for Hudson...even though he doesn't realize it yet! I was so lucky to have had an amazing sister to grow up with 21 months apart. I'm excited to think of how Hudson will have a little baby brother or sister at nearly exactly 25 months apart....wow....what a wonderful workout it will be!

The sickness continues...morning, afternoon, and night. Crackers, Sprite, and chocolate seem to help ease the squishy-ness. Even water has seemed to trigger the inescapable gag reflex...lovely picture...I know. We took Hudson to the circus to celebrate his"Big Brotherhood" this week! He absolutely loved it. He went on a pony ride, ate cotton candy, and despite mommy's freak out session...loved the clowns. It was the perfect evening until mommy realized that with all of the sickness and exhaustion she forgot to restock Hudson's book bag with diapers. We should be ok for another hour right? Wrong. We were doomed. Apparently all of the excitement, juice, and cotton candy resulted in Hudson feeling the need to follow suit with the ponies and elephants if ya know what I mean. Thank God for the kind and understanding neighboring mommy in row 9 seat 14!

Our Sweet Little Blueberry...

Baby's brain, both hemispheres, is growing fast - generating about one hundred new cells each minute! Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place!

Week 6 - April 8, 2011

April 8th - 6 Weeks "Oh Sweet Pea, Come and Dance With Me"

I can't believe I'm back at the "Wall of Fame" already! This wall in our dining room is lovingly referred to as the "belly wall" around here. It felt so funny and surreal standing in front of it again! I have to admit it almost felt as though I was pretending. It's so hard for me to believe still that we really are having another baby!! After seeing the big news on March 30th, I immediately called our Dr., even before I told Garrett! I was automatically worried about not having any special assistance getting to this amazing place that my mom instincts kicked into high panic mode. We had so much close attention and help with Hudson that I was worried that something could go wrong. When I talked to our nurse on the phone that afternoon she told me not to get my hopes up and that, "You know the chances of you being pregnant without complications is very slim." She cautioned me not to get my hopes up to high and that I needed to come in the very next day for an exam. I must have mentioned the several tests several times, thinking that would have been good enough proof, but she still wanted me to wait to celebrate until I came in. Well, if you read the previous post, and if you know anything about me at all...you know that was impossible for me to do. Even though I was worried, I wanted to celebrate this life with Garrett and recognize it as the blessing that it was, even if we would only experience it for a little while. That night I laid in bed thanking God for this amazing surprise. A quietness came over my heart as if God was saying that everything will be ok. I know I just needed to trust Him...again.

On April 1st (Of course it just had to be April Fool's Day) we went into the doctor's office excited and worried. We have the most amazing nurse and doctor. They are the same little team that worked so closely with us throughout our journey with Hudson. They couldn't believe that we were actually there for a pregnancy test and ultrasound. Although they were really genuinely happy for us, they kept warning us to just take a deep breath and wait to see what the ultrasound revealed before we let ourselves celebrate.

I laid there holding Garrett's hand scanning the ultrasound screen for any signs of anything! Then, our doctor became completely silent as she turned to us and said, "Oh my goodness, there really is a baby." We held our breath, we cried, we laughed...we were so grateful. An estimated due date of December 2nd sounded like a perfect way to welcome the holiday season! Because we found out so very early, 4-5 weeks along, she wanted us to be aware and remember the chances of miscarriage would be very high for us. We understood but we knew that this baby was meant to be.

We couldn't wait to tell our families and the rest of the world, but we wanted to keep this special surprise a secret between our little family for just a little longer. Garrett's parents were here in Myrtle Beach so we knew we would tell them soon. I wanted to wait until Hudson and I went home for Easter so that I could tell my family in person, even though I knew the wait would be torturous

Here is our precious little bean at about 6 weeks along! What a beautiful addition to our family you will be my little one!

This week ...

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to grow eyes, ears, nose, cheeks, and chin. Those little hands and feet, still webbed like paddles, might wiggle by weeks end! The heart is beating, almost twice as fast as mommy's and blood is starting to circulate. Baby is the size of a sweet pea!
