Hudson's first week at home was busy, and wonderful. We were so thankful to be surrounded by so many family and friends. Ann, Pam, Easton, and Charlie stayed until the end of the weekend and Nana and Heather and Pa stayed for the rest of the week. Bubby stayed until the end of the month. I can't even begin to explain how incredibly difficult it was to say goodbye to everyone. We were so blessed to have such an amazing support/cheering squad for Hudson's first days as a part of our family. Hudson's first doctor's appointment with Dr. Droseiko was on Monday, November 9th. My mom helped me get Hudson ready for his appointment. This would be our first adventure out. I must have packed everything we owned in Hudson's diaper bag...because, "you just never know" ...right?!

Anyways, the nurses made such a fuss over his super cute yellow duck outfit from Aunt Maureen, and went especially nuts over his teddy bear hat. I have to admit, it was fun to hear other people say how beautiful he was. Dr. Droseiko was amazed at how wonderful his coloring was. He was rosy and content and very laid back. We were nervous when our little guy weiged in at 6lbs 8oz. A significant drop from his "hefty" 7lbs 3oz. Although some weight loss is normal after birth, we were told to come back in a few days to make sure his weight started climbing. Talk about a nervous mom and dad....especially mom. I was beginning to feel the pressure of nursing. Thankfully, within the next few days, Hudson put those good ol' lbs back on plus some and everyone was happy...especially mommy. :)
Hudson's first week was filled with wonderful new memories and lots of special visitors. Our good friends Matt and Christina and their beautiful girls Kylie and Caroline came by while they were in town and we got some cute pictures of all the kids together for the first time! Maggie and Dave, part of our South Carolina family, stopped in often to steal some cuddle time and Maggie always had some treats and presents in tow. Kim made lots of visits and even joined us for a pr
etend Thanksgiving dinner my mom made for us before they went back to PA. Sally and Ed even came for a special visit from Virginia.
One of the most
surprising presents November brought was Hudson's first night sleeping through the night!! Thanksgiving night was filled with lots of firsts! Bubby made a wonderful dinner for us and afterwards we decorated for Christmas! We gave Hudson his first real bath in his little blue whale tub that night! I got the hang of the good ol' pump that night too! I affectionately called the pump "Bessie" for all you nursing moms out there, I'm sure that needs no further explanation...you get it! At a mere 3 weeks old, and after his first real bath in his little whale tub and his first bottle given to him by Daddy...Hudson was out like a light and stayed out until 7am the next morning! Praise the Lord! Although I was desperate for sleep... I, of course, didn't sleep a wink. I was so nervous about his sleeping continuously that I was up every 5 minutes putting my hand on his little chest to make sure he was still breathing. He looved his new little cuddle wrap he bundled him in and with a full belly and a busy night of decorating and a first bath...I guess he was just tired from all the excitement! Thankfull this was not a one night thing! So far, Hudson has continued to sleep through the night every night! Let's hope this is not just a passing phase!
November brought a month full of "firsts". Hudson's Steeler game (vs. Broncos a 28-10 win!)first sponge bath, making footprints and handprints, millions of pictures, first tub bath, first bottle, sleeping through the night, first Thanksgiving, lots of playtime with family and then saying goodbye to special visitors. We will forever be so grateful for all of the love everyone helped us to welcome Hudson.
